Great Gardens Workshops
Hundreds of green fingered residents across the region have flocked to the ever-popular Great Gardens workshops held across the Cities of Armadale and Gosnells and Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire over the past four years...and the good news is that they're back this Summer and will be held on the following dates:
City of Armadale - 18 February 2008 - 6 - 9pm in the Function Room at the City of Armadale's Administration Building - 7 Orchard Ave, Armadale.
City of Gosnells - 19 February 2008 - 6 - 9pm in the Reception Room at the City of Gosnells' Administration Building - 2120 Albany Hwy, Gosnells.
The workshops are designed to help residents design and create sustainable gardens, and focus on planning and management to help ensure gardens are water and fertiliser wise.
The free 3-hour Great Gardens workshops will help you to:
PLAN - your garden to make it more beautiful and manageable
SAVE - precious time and money
CREATE - a wonderful garden and be water wise and fertiliser wise
IMPROVE - the beauty and value of your property
ATTRACT - birds and wildlife
UNDERSTAND - your soils and get the best out of them
DEAL - with pests and diseases effectively
The workshop provides practical advice on creating and maintaining environmentally friendly gardens.
By being water wise in your garden, not only do we conserve water, less water has to be pumped which saves energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions too.
Gardeners will also be able to find out how to reduce their reliance on fertilisers and pesticides, which is good news for the Swan catchment.
The free workshops also look at issues such as pest management, dealing with diseases and attracting wildlife to the urban garden.
