Student and staff engagement

Student and staff engagement is a key focus of the sustainability efforts of Thornlie Senior High School. Staff are encouraged to bring in their organic waste from home for donation to the school worm farms. Plastic bottles are routinely collected from staff and filled with the leachate from the worm farm (worm wiz) and then returned to staff for use on their gardens.

Sustainability activities that take place at the school are increasingly integrated in teaching and learning in the classroom, for example the actions to improve biodiversity are linked to conservation biology and flora studies in science.
