Worm farms

Thornlie Senior High School has established a series of upcycled worm farms made out of old fridges. Staff are encouraged to bring in their food scraps from home to feed the worms. Food scraps are refrigerated or frozen and once a week a science class is responsible for chopping up the scraps into small pieces and placing into the farms.

There are plans to use the worm wiz (leachate) on the school’s horticultural garden and native plant nursery.
