After a quick introduction outlining the benefits of second-hand clothing and some tips about how to find clothes that work for you, the clothes swap will commence.
These Clothes Swaps are run by the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC).
What is a clothes swap? A clothes swap is an opportunity to refresh your wardrobe for free. Simply check your wardrobe for items you don’t wear anymore and bring them along to swap them for items you will wear.
What sort of items do I bring and how many? You can bring as many or as few as you like and take as many or as few as you like. We accept all types of clothes in good clean condition – this event is primarily focused on women’s clothing however we will provide a rack for kids and men’s wear as well. We will accept shoes and accessories. We do not accept underwear. Please ensure you check your items for stains, holes and missing buttons.
How do I bring my items to the swap? You can bring items on a hanger or in a reusable bag. Please note we will not be able to return hangers so if you do not wish to donate the hanger please fold the item. The reusable bag is so you can use it to take your new items home.
How should I dress? There will be change rooms available. Pro tip: if you are trying on lots of items make sure you dress in something easy to take on and off or wear a tight fitting t-shirt and leggings for easy trying on over the top.
What happens to leftover clothing? The EMRC run these clothes swaps around the eastern region and take the clothes that haven't found a new home during the workshop to the next event so that there is a range of clothes each time.
In accordance with hygiene requirements, social distancing will be maintained throughout this program and hand sanitizing stations and cleaning products will be available for use.
