To celebrate National Recycling Week, eight contemporary Western Australian artists (Beverley Iles, Carolyn Francis, Neil Elliott, Peter Dailey, Ryck Rudd, Tami Esancy, Veronica McGrath, and Vince Austin) create artworks to promote public discourse around illegal dumping.
“Dumped” Artist’s will be working with the community to reclaim and create using armatures of the Western Swap Tortoise and found objects from the Recycling Shop, participants will cover armatures to create, finished sculptures that will be retained on the site.
Can you image a Western Swap Tortoise made from everyday materials made like soft toys, books, kitchen wares, clothing, electrics, small appliances, or even white goods? Using Western Swap Tortoise armatures formed from recycled materials and found objects from the Recycling Shop, participants will cover and wrap armatures to create finished sculptures, to be retained at the centre.
