Foraging in the waste stream

Five contemporary artists critique the insatiable appetite of consumerism by searching for ways to reduce, recycle, reuse and reclaim materials through their artworks. They ask, through foraging and fossicking, how can art shift our perception of what is trash and what is treasure?

In partnership with the Recycling Centre Bullsbrook, the Bullsbrook Public Library, the project is a culmination of residencies and workshops ending with an exhibition at Ellenbrook Arts in November. Artworks will be created using a range of materials (organic and man-made) that have been foraged from the local waste processing plant, with the results are often surprising and thought-provoking.

Each artist will each spend time in residence at the Bullsbrook Public Library spanning 1 July – 26 September 2022, hosting a variety of workshops throughout the period.
