Attend this free worskhop to find out about The Great Cocky Count – the largest survey and data collection on Black Cockatoos in WA. On one night in autumn, volunteers monitor known roost sites and count black-cockatoos as they come in to their evening roosts. Records submitted from across the southwest provide a snapshot of black-cockatoo populations, and over time this has helped us quantify the changes in black-cockatoo numbers.
Participants will learn about Black Cockatoo ecology, biology, behaviour and threats and receive instructions for taking part in the official count in April.
The Great Cocky Count 2020 will be on Sunday 5 April at sunset (approx 5.30pm – 6.30pm).
